West Irving Aquatic Center

Texas is a very warm state. The heat is especially bad in the arid panhandle regions in the summertime. It can get so hot that even the kiddie pool in the yard heats up so much than jumping into it feels like leaping into a Baxi wall mounted boiler. To combat the heat, Texans turn to indoor swimming pools like the one at the West Irving Aquatic Center. If you're planning on moving to Irving, Texas, you'll want to know more about the West Irving Aquatic Center.

If you're new to the city, you'll be excited to learn that the West Irving Aquatic Center is a brand new state of the art facility. Meanwhile, if you're already an Irving resident, you've been excited about its opening for ages and have been counting down the days as the temperature calibrator rises. The facility opened on June 12, 2010 at 3701 Conflans Road in Irving. You should head over there to check it out as soon as you get settled into your new house.

For those of you wondering why everyone is so excited about the opening of a plain old swimming pool, you should know that the West Irving Aquatic Center is much more than just a swimming pool. In fact, it has more in common with a theme water park than with a lap pool like the one at your local community center in Mississauga. Caterers could set up in the tented off areas or set up bars on the islands in the middle of the splash pool. That's the kind of place the West Irving Aquatic Center is.

The Aquatic Center is also wheelchair friendly, as it has a zero depth entry to its splash pool where you can wheel through and be cooled off by the spray from the jets. For kids, there's a whole splash playground full of automatic waterers and slides. And for younger kids, there's a shaded splash area with a little slide and a waterfall. If you're going to bring the kids, however, remember to keep a close eye on them at all times. This is not the lifeguard's responsibility.

There are elements at the West Irving Aquatic Center for adults who are more into exercising or relaxing after a hard day of installing cable glands as well. You can swim laps in the lap pool, lounge in the splash pool, or climb the rock wall. There's also a waterfall and a shaded area for lounging.
